I remember the first time I heard her song 'Ogaju'. This was in 2010, then I was resident in Ibadan. I was in a taxi going to Ring Road, I was at Mokola roundabout to be precise. She sounded like a bird, her vocals were so light but yet strong enough to command your attention.
Back then she was a gospel artist whose success was mainly in the West. Now she is Afropop artist on the rise. How things change! As a gospel artist her vocals were so powerful and commanding. Now she sounds more cute than powerful. Which I feel comes with the territory catering to the mainstream market and all.

What I feel has stuck and is unchanging is her demeanour. Simi comes of as a easy going, down to earth chick. Like people of God she performed with her natural hair! (or something that looks like her natural hair) on Ndani Sessions.
